Studies show an increase in extreme weather events on the Brazilian coast

The entire Brazilian coast is already suffering some kind of impact from climate change in relation to heat waves. Over the past 40 years, temperatures have risen in coastal cities in the South and Southeast.

On the coast of Espírito Santo, there were seven extreme temperature events per year and currently there are 21 records.

Waves of heat and cold, they are more common in spring and autumn, bringing risks of natural disasters associated with them, affecting the poorest people who live in areas more exposed to floods and landslides.

And all resulting from the side effects of disordered global warming.

We have to act urgently to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce the pollution of rivers and seas, manage better and with more creativity and technology the production and disposal of waste. Only then will we be able to survive the coming decades on planet earth.

Follow the projects of WMF and its partners, in reforestation and forest management, transformation of waste into energy, generation of renewable energy and everything linked to actions that promote equality and sustainability.
