European Union sets taxation on carbon emissions from 2026
Last week, the European Parliament approved the European Union’s ambitious climate plan.
Bringing about important changes in the carbon market with the aim of limiting greenhouse gas emissions, by imposing on industry, and other sectors in sequence, which at the end of each year, will refund the number of CO₂ quotas emitted into the atmosphere to the CLIMA Social Fund or prove compensation in carbon credits sequestered in regulated and recognized projects.
With this new regulation, the EU expects to reduce emissions by 55% by 2030, in addition to becoming a positive reference for other nations in the world to follow the same initiatives.
