Forest

Dr. Alexandre da Rosa

WMF was born with the mission of engaging in the protection of forests that are not threatened or threatened by invasion for deforestation, as well as the recovery of forests
transformed into pastures that belong to our private areas or those of our project partner clients.

Deforestation is one of the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions, especially carbon dioxide (CO₂). According to estimates by the Union
For the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), deforestation and forest degradation account for about 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

The rate of deforestation varies from year to year and from region to region, but on average, the world loses around 7 million hectares of forest per year. This equates to a annual emission of about 1.5 to 2 billion tons of CO₂ into the atmosphere. In addition to CO₂, deforestation also releases other greenhouse gases such as methane and nitrous oxide, which further increases the impact on global warming.

Thus, our focus is on promoting forest balance through our presence with Sustainable Forest Management Plans with Carbon Capture and Sequestration,
meeting human needs, preserving biodiversity and ecological functioning, and mitigating the negative effects of climate change. Being
fundamental to guarantee the health and integrity of forests, as forests are an important source of carbon and contribute to the regulation of the global climate.

On Brazilian soil we have the largest tropical forest on the planet, the Amazon Forest, which holds an enormous biodiversity that is home to millions of species of animals and
of plants.

WMF and its founder are proud to be one of the top ten holders of private land in the rainforest, with extensive areas with development projects
preservation of nature and large projects with the local population to generate wealth and knowledge.
